School Start - School Supplies for 2021-2022!

SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS 

It is that time of year when we begin to welcome our new kindergarten students to Bradner Elementary. Although their official start is still several months away, we want to be sure they feel excited and ready to begin their school journey! In past years we have always hosted a Ready, Set, Learn event, to give new students a taste of school life, and to provide parents with some readiness activities to do with their children at home. This year, due to covid, we have had to scale back this event.

April has come to an end, and we have had another successful month at Bradner! Below are the students who were honoured this month, but it is so important to add just how proud we are of all students. At Bradner we see polite, caring, friendly children who are working hard and maintaining a positive attitude during a year that has had it's share of stress, change and disappointments.  Thank you to the wonderful parents responsible for supporting our students and sending them to school with so many tools already in their toolboxes!

Today we held our grade 5 public speaking finals. It was quite a tight race! Allison, Kate and Tanaka all gave outstanding performances with their very relevant and thoughtful speeches. You can view the speeches in the video above, and see if you agree. In the end, Tanaka walked away with top honors for her speech "Why You Should Limit Your Social Media Use". Congratulations Tanaka, and congratulations to Kate, Allison, and all the grade 5 students who worked hard to do their very best in this challenge!

March was a short month, but there was lots of fun and action! Enjoy some of our highlights.

The Abbotsford Board of Education regularly meets throughout the school year. Agendas and minutes from the public Board Meetings can be accessed through the District's Electronic School Board. Below is a summary of highlights from the meeting. To do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and for everyone's safety, all public meetings of the Abbotsford Board of Education will be closed to the public and held virtually until further notice. The meetings will also be live-streamed.

Staff and students at Bradner are so excited to announce that our Library Learning Commons art is here and up on display for all to enjoy! Local Indigenous Artist Jay Havens created this unique work for us over the past two years. He blended the traditional Woodlands art style he is so well known for, with contemporary a digital medium to create 5 panels representing local indigenous history and to tell a story about salmon.
