Looking forward to learning and serving at Bradner
Hello Bradner Community,
I’m excited to be joining the Bradner Elementary and supporting our community of learners. Here’s a little bit about myself. I have worked in education in a variety of roles including: learning assistance teacher, resource teacher, English as a Second language/English as a Second Dialect, Vice-Principal of AD Rundle Middle school, and Acting Vice-Principal of Summer Learning for five summers providing vision and support for diverse learners in Grades 1-12 (primarily at the elementary level). I’ve worked at the district level in Chilliwack as the Low Incidence Coordinator and Gifted Education of Student Services, and most recently as the Vice Principal at Clayburn Middle since the Fall of 2019. I’m a lifelong learner with a Bachelor of Education (Major in Physical Education, Minor in History) with a specialization in Middle School, a Masters in Educational Leadership with a focus on supporting the at-risk learner in alternate education, a Graduate Diploma in Inclusive Education, and have completed half of the coursework and hours to become a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Most importantly I am a husband to Marie, and father of six-year old twins Henry and Rosie (where has the time gone?), and two year old (Felix the dog). Our family enjoys going for hikes, gardening, and I’m an exercise nut.
I’m looking forward to getting to know your child(ren), learning, and serving the community of learners at Bradner Elementary. Building community for all in a school community is important as a school leader. Here is a link (click here) to a recent blog post I wrote on community if you are interested reading more about that.
Respectfully,
Mr. Galen Soon
