Bradner Unveils New Art in LLC!
Staff and students at Bradner are so excited to announce that our Library Learning Commons art is here and up on display for all to enjoy! Local Indigenous Artist Jay Havens created this unique work for us over the past two years. He blended the traditional Woodlands art style he is so well known for, with contemporary a digital medium to create 5 panels representing local indigenous history and to tell a story about salmon. He worked with students to share with them the importance of salmon to the indigenous people of the Fraser Valley, and supported them to create their own digital Woodlands style salmon art. Then he selected 22 fish made by students to include in the mural.
Congratulations to the following Bradner students (past and present) who's fish were selected to be a part of the mural:
Ken D, Xander H, Evelyn W, Lucy R, Joey G, Donovan M, Avery F, Kadin Q, Tanaka M, Preet R, Roxie B, Kushveer K, Morgan B, Landon S, Kayla F, Calum M, Penny S, Ben L, Piper S, Sophia S, Miranda A, John W.
A big thank you to the Abbotsford School District Indigenous Education Department for supporting us with this beautiful project!
