Indigenous Artist Jay Havens Unveils Artwork for Learning Commons

On Oct.2, students and staff were excited to attend the unveiling assembly for the artwork we commisioned last year by Indigenous artist Jay Havens. Mr. Havens shared a little bit about who he was, and where he was from, as well as drawing a connection to the residential school system and the importance of having a strong identity, in order to succeed. Students were delighted to see the work that he had done for us, and we are all looking forward to working with Mr. Havens this year as we complete our project. Students are all going to participate in creating salmon artwork to add to a larger mural, the theme of which is "Gifts of Sto:lo".
