Welcome Back to School

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer! If you're like me, it felt just a little too short, but the excitement of starting a new school year makes that ok!

First off, a big welcome back to all returning Bradner staff, students and families! I am looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces again!

We are also happy to be welcoming several new staff members to the team. Ms. Rachelle Folk is joining us as an EA to work alongside Ms. Mitchell and Ms. K, supporting students in their classrooms.  Ms. Folk is our only new full time staff member this year, and I know she will be a terrific fit here.  Welcome also to Ms. Ashley Robinson, who will be our Counsellor (replacing Colleen Moffat) and Ms. Leilani Diablo, who will be our Aboriginal Worker (replacing Wenonah Justin). We are also lucky to welcome Mrs. Inger Work as our new Library Technician. Welcome back to Mrs. Baker, who is covering Mrs. Goerzen’s parental leave until Christmas.

Welcome to any new families who are joining our school community this year. We know you will quickly become a part of our Bradner family. Feel free to stop by the front office to introduce yourselves, and plan to attend the first Bradner PAC meeting, Sept 13, at 9:15 am (at the school) where you will be able to meet some of our other parents and learn how you can become involved in some our Bradner traditions.

The first day, September 3, is a half day, with students dismissing at 12:15. Busses will be running. Students in grades 1 – 5 should arrive at school and find their grade number in the undercover area to line up at. Kindergarten students will line up at the south side office door (our main entrance). This first day will be spent in a classroom with their same grade peers, but please be aware that this may not be their final placement for the year. As in the past, it is necessary to create classes based on student numbers, and so students will be placed in their permanent class groupings, which may be a split grade, Tuesday afternoon. Class lists will be posted at 4:00 on Tuesday. The class lists will be up on Wednesday morning also, to help you find the correct door at which to line up.

Bradner staff is looking forward to another fantastic year of learning and growing together. We appreciate the terrific parent support that is so much a part of our school culture and look forward to getting to know you all again in the context of this new school year.
